  1. What about a U-tec think i've seem then in the states for about $900 just got to get someone to map it, which sounds easy but doubt it will be.

What other piggybacks are available? maybe something like a apexi s-afc. I used one in my Celica gt4 with success before I out grew it and needed the full on power fc.

  2. manhole covers can be fecking lethal in the wet/damp, mate of mine was riding at about 30mph in the wet, a car pulled out in from of him, he slammed on the front brake and a bit of rear, but as this happed he went over a manhole cover, the front wheel just went from under him and as he fell off the handlebar smashed into his leg and broke it in pretty much every place. It took him 18 months to be able to walk again.

  3. I will if you will Ian

Coilovers will hopefully go on within the next week. I'm 17mm lower in the front than stock and dont want to go lower than 25mm and I'm 15mm in the rear and could go to 28mm I think that realistic.

Question is though does the car need to be lower in the front or was that just how the Tein springs designed?

  4. Absolutely great racing definitely the best I have seen to date.

Previous to this it was last year at Laguna Seca when Rossi passed Casey Stoner on the

    corkscrew.

    Great racing!!

    And stoner cried!

he did yea, I remember thinking at the time, Thats racing, if he can't hang with the big boys then don't.

I do think Lorenzo was amazing a lot to come from him, only 22

  5. On the Gixer every time I pulled away from the lights it was a sheer battle just on stay on the bike, it felt like it was just going to come away from between my legs

Don't be in a rush to get a R1/R6, you will have more fun on a smaller more nimble bike, ok it won't impress people down the pub but i'm sure thats not the reason you want a R1. The sensation of speed, even on a 125 is greater then you will get in any car.

So I reiterate, start small and work up

  6. I bought a GXS-R 600 for my first bike, had it for two months and sold it, main reason was i really saw me killing my self so i took a few months away bought a honda cb500 had that for a little while then it died, and couldn't be arsed to fix it.

Then I borrowed a Suzuki SV 650 of a friend while he finished off his masters degree and he needed a bit of extra cash, so I basiclly rented it off him and insured it myself.

Only now do I really feel comfortable to get back on a 'R' bike and wouldn't go above 750cc. I would still be really carfeful and not use it in the wet and bit a bit of a girl on it to be honest.

An R1 is a race bred bike, as your first bike you are very likely to drop it, hopeful it would be a low speed but they won't be forgiving at all. In comparasion you wouldn't pass your car test, a go drive a 900hp Dodge Viper and hope you dont get caught in the wet.

Obvisouly this is all up to you, my advise would be get a 500-600cc sport bike by all means, ie honda cbf 600 or something keep it for a summer then when you feel a bit more comfortable look into a faster bike.

I dont know how much experience you have on a bike but if you've not riden one before, the shock of when a car pulls out in front of you is nothing you can prepare for, and on a large bike its going to be a lot harder to control than a smaller, lighter, more nimble bike.

If you want a R1 buy all means get one, but i'd wait and get it when you've ridden for a year or two.

  7. I'd still rather have my car low, plus i do like pissing off 4x4's when i'm taking speedbumps really really slow :boxing:

I've had to tell the builders that are building my new apartment that if the road isn't finished by the snag test, they will have to move the completion date

I'm also on my second undertray, ripped first one off on girlfriends parents drive way, not the best impression when I was swearing my head off :D

  8. Hello all,

I was wondering how often those of you that have lowered Zed's scrape/bottom out, on speed bumps sharpe slopes and the like.

My zed is lowered on Tein springs which I think is14mm in the front and 17mm in the rear and I wouldn't consider it to be that low, but I seem to scrape at least twice a day. I am really careful but don’t seem to make a difference. Take today of example I pulled into a car park in Windsor and saw that the speed bumps were a bit aggressive so I was extra slow and took them at an angle, got over the first two fine but the third turned out to be bigger and got the front lip over but scraped the mid section whether it was the cats or bottom of the chassis I don't know but it wasn't a good sound and royally pi**ed me off. Can't understand how they make speed bumps people can't even get over, and different sizes

I now have a list as long as my arm places I won't take the zed  and when I am planning on getting a set of coilover next week and the zed is likely to be lower

I wondered how many others get this a lot and maybe we should have a common data base of places that might damage our cars.
