Help with Mini issues

Hi all,

I have been driving my misses mini while my car has been in the garage and low and behold I have got a problem with this as well.

57 plate 1.6 mini cooper, I noticed earlier in the week that when I was sitting at the lights the revs would drop and stutter slightly then it would rev higher then settle. It would do this once every 10 or 20 seconds.

I was driving home last night and the red battery light popped up then went off quite quickly then it popped back on and stayed on. I drove the short 2min journey home with zero issues and parked up and popped the bonnet. I reved the engine while the lights were on to see if the lights dimmed but they didn't. everythin looked ok under the bonnet bar the revs doing the stutter every so often.

I had done a couple of very short drives last night so it did get a few start stops which can always show up a bad battery. It is the revs that is throwing me off, I don't want to just go buy another battery for it to be something else.

Any thoughts?

had exactly the same problem with my gf's old mini... turned out to be low coolant...

not sure how it fixed it, but it did! I also topped up the oil ;)

I had checked the oil in it last week and it was fine, I will have a look at the coolant when I go home!
