ZeppoJeff Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 So I'm having a v2 bumper installed later this month and just trying to find the best solution for mounting the front number plate. I've thought motorised show plate but has anyone else got any other ideas? Quote
ZeppoJeff Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Go double sided tape for ease Normally I would but don't really want to when it a fresh new paint job. Think I want something for easy removal at shows etc Quote
veeg33 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Strong magnets should do the job. Make sure they are really strong!! Use double sided to stick a strip of thin metal on your number plate, then glue/masking tape, silicone, etc strong magnets behind the bumper where you want your number plate to be. Examples: http://www.amazon.co.uk/First4magnets-20mm-Thick-Neodymium-Magnet/dp/B0038E2KYE/ref=pd_bxgy_60_text_y http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Magnets-/147829/i.html Make sure you have 3 or more individual contact point to avoid it moving about whilst driving at speed. If you are going to place it on a curved surface, make sure the metal plate is shaped to match ensuring best contact before sticking it onto the number plate. Also ensure the surface is clean before attaching the plate as the strong magnet will pull the plate and might scratch your bumper. Note: I've never done this before but just an idea for you to explore. I've used these magnets to stick 'L' plate on my previous mini and it works really well. Quote
ZeppoJeff Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Hmm sounds like a rather genius and I like it...apart from the chance of scratching the paint work 1 Quote
Sargara Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121376156231 Job done. I bought 2 boxes (one for the front, one for the rear) and never had any problems. Quote
veeg33 Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Alternatively, cut a piece of microfiber cloth and place it between the thin plate and magnet. That should stop the scratching Quote
veilside z Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Velcro double sided will work. Buy on a roll and cut to length. Diy shops sell it. Quote
