plastic paintwork protector on roadster

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I noticed whilst cleaning the roadster that there is transparent seal around the body work between the hood and paint work, when the roof is retracted this seal can be seen and it seems some dirt has got around the edges making it difficult to clean.

Would anyone know if it can be replaced my mechanic says it may damage the paintwork peeling it off.

Has anyone replaced it and know the proper part name ?

Regards Jamie :)

Can I tag along on this one please. ðŸ˜

Asked before on Forum, but best advice was try cleaning the edges with ear buds!! 😬

Was hoping if anyone had removed / replaced this, but unfortunately had no response.

Obv.factory fitted to template, but must be a common problem with Roadsters.

Not a lot you can do here. I have the same problem. The dirt is under the edge of the film. Its a common problem. The Lotus Elise has stone protector behind the doors. Same thing there.

Only way is to replace with new.

Was hoping someone had actually attempted or actually new how to remove and replace said protection strip.?

Looking like being 'stuck' with it then. Ho Hum 😬

Good idea.

To get it off, use a heat gun. Clean off any glue and wax. Fit with soapy water in a spray. Fit using application blade. Ok, take it to the decal shop

We have similar on the 350gt skyline just before rear wheel arches.

I've been putting off attempting a fix

Ok. If I was to remove mine this is what I do. Suns out so top down. Get a hair drier and slowly heat up the strip at one end. Keep the hair dryer moving melting the adhesive an inch at a time. Start to pull it up with a fine blade. Move to the next inch and repeat making sure the strip is hot and soft before peeling it up. Let us know if and when you try. Good luck.
