Just a quick one. Is it only cars registered on and after 2006 that incur the extra road tax? My G tax is up at the end of this month and was expecting a reminder for £400 but it arrived today for £205. :blush:

and don't forget, you can have an older import but if you bring it over and register it now it may or may not cost you the higher amount depending on what mood the DVLA is in at the time!

well when was it registered? Seems a bit cheap to me but then you are Mr Lucky!

Mr Lucky? Am I??? :blush:

Its a 2004 car but didn't know if the car was in the top emmissions bracket and therefore the top road tax bracket?

So should mine be £400 or is the £205 correct?

Here is what Chesterfield found out for us a while back - down to when the car was registered - a bummer as far I am concerned having had to pay another £95 for exactly the same spec engine as the GT4s. :angry:

Here is the link to the full budget report:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/p ... report.pdf

Sections relevant to the owners of the 350Z are 7.78 on page 191.

Quote:

• raising the rate for the most polluting cars (band G) to £300 in 2007-08 and

£400 in 2008-09; and reducing the rate for low-carbon band B cars to £35 in

2007-08, with that rate then frozen for the subsequent two years;

• raising the rates for graduated bands C-E, cars registered before 2001 and all

light goods vehicles by £5 in each of the next three years;

• raising the rates for graduated band F by £10 in 2007-08, then £5 in each of

the subsequent two years;

• in 2007-08 only, freezing the rates for motorbikes in the lower band with

higher bands increasing by £1-£2; and freezing VED rates for Heavy Goods

Vehicles (HGV), Special Types Vehicles, Combined Transport Vehicles and all

vehicle categories that are linked to the basic goods rate;7 and

• aligning the VED rates for petrol and diesel cars as the differential in nitrogen

oxides and particulate matter emissions for new cars is expected to fall to

close to zero once Euro V and VI emission standards become mandatory.

• Changes to this year’s VED rates take effect from 22 March 2007. All changes

in subsequent years take effect from licenses commencing 1 April in the

respective year.

Band G are vehicles with emissions levels above 225g/km and registered ON OR AFTER 23rd March 2006.

This means that any 350Z registered ON OR AFTER 23rd Marc 2006 is in Band G.

Thats £300 in 2007-2008 and £400 in 2008-2009

Mind you sarnie when you get that GT R the the money you get back from the sale of the Lambo should offset the tax then .......hopefully :scare:
