Zedrush Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Just bought some black powdercoated mesh, as want to replace the grill at the front with black mesh, after looking at my brothers front bumper I realised that the grill is not actually a seperate part from the bumper. It is in fact moulded to the bumper, so the only way of seperating it looks to be if I cut it out. Anyone have any recommendations before I start hacking away Quote
Stew Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Remove the bumper ans use a dremmel! I did this on one of my old cars, in fact It was actually a colour coded part of the bumper, just dremmeled nice and slow and it was a top result. Quote
lomoto Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Jacko has a mesh grill fitted it just clips on over existing grill, you dont notice the original grill bars once in place Quote
Zedrush Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Jacko has a mesh grill fitted it just clips on over existing grill, you dont notice the original grill bars once in place Was it a specialised grill purpose made for the Z or did he just cut and fit over the grill and clipped it into place? If I go dremmel route anyone know the best dremmel to buy for this? Quote
sinbad Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Don't dremmels come with multiple fitments? If thats the case, then a basic one will do. The Dremmel will make mince meat out of the plastic grill, there proper good for messing about cutting stuff with so watch your fingers should easily come off with the dremmel, just take your time, you could easily slip with one and you can say bye bye to your C-West splitter haha Quote
Stew Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 One of the round cutting discs would be best I'd have thought. A seasoned DIYer could tell you the best though! Quote

Stew Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 I'm sure when I did the grill on that previous car that we made up fixings or something. I don't remember glue being involved...... Quote

If so I might do same & leave one grill spat intact, may try & get this kind of open, aggresive look?? nah bro, the grill just sticks over it see the ebay link, looks quite good, since If I sell I have the option of doing both incase the buyer might not like the mesh plus me with a dremel is like leaving a 5 year old to play with a gun... not good and alot of blood Quote
