leet8845 Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 When I first got the car I noticed a rattle come from the back after a few drives. Further inspection revealed the heatshield had worn through the bolts that hold it on so it was just sitting on top of the catback rattling around. I brought some compression springs and wedged them in to hold it in it's original position, however after a while the springs fall out and I'm back to square one. ow much exhaust do I need remove to fix tis? Does it need to come all the way off or can I just remove the rubbers and lean it out the way? Also, can I do this on axle stands or would it better to get a garage to do it? Quote
KyleR Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I assume you mean your back box? Just rip it off, you don't need it (the heat shield, not the back box ) 1 Quote
ZEUS Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 I managed to remove the bolts and add washers to mine without removing the exhaust but as KyleR says , just remove it! Quote
leet8845 Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 Thanks. I shall try removing it. Quote
leet8845 Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 It would have a PITA to remove the bolts and add washers with the exhaust still attached. Took 2 minutes to rip it out Just hope my boot doesn't melt Quote
nixy Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Something similar happened to mine. Put a big metal hose clip round it and seems ok for now. Quote
