oldbonesmcgee Posted October 15, 2014 Share Posted October 15, 2014 Hi All, I have had a look at some threads on removing the front bumper, but I cannot find one that shows what happens with the headlight washers as American models don't have them. Even the service manuals on here don't have them!! Can anyone who's done this before help me out? Do the little caps have to pop off first or do I just go gung ho and it sorts itself out? THEN ... you try to work out how the HELL to remove the damn washer jets form the bumper!I first disconnected the pipe.. before realising it was going to just drain my washer fluid. So, what I ACTUALLY did was... take a tiny flat head screwdriver to the little catches on the inside of the flap... These popped of and let me unscrew the unit from the bumper, letting me take it away. Be ready with the cable ties to connect the washer to the metal loops under the lights. GMballistic Posted October 16, 2014 Share Posted October 16, 2014 There shouldn't be a lot of difference between the two models with regards to removing the headlight washers and tbh the stuff for the 350Z was all I could find about that. If I'm right you have to be careful with the 370Z though when removing the front bumper I think because of the "pop up bonnet" feature it has for if you're in a crash with a pedestrian. After the plastic cover under the engine is removed, it's necessary to remove 2 of the 3 Pop Up sensors. (the three yellow sensor in the front of the car in the photo http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/9690/dscn2067a.jpg )Do not unplug the wire, because I learnt that the unit detect the tampering and the system fails! After the front bumper is detatched, you will remove from the top the third sensor in the centre of the bumper. Only after these operations, the bumper is free to be removed. Once you have taken off all the pop rivets and bolts, the bumper will pull out from the lights/under the wings. It will come free, but feel restricted. First thing to disconnect is the washers. The washers are fed from the reservoir which is on the driver side. There is a rigid hose that comes from under the reservoir over to the bumper. This elbow has a squeeze type connector. You squeeze it together, and it then pulls off from the tank. Next is the three sensors located in the post above. The top centre one is behind the plate. You need a 10mm socket, and need to remove the two nuts on the back of the sensor, and then it can hang free. DO NOT disconnect the plugs. Next you have to tackle the sensors behind the fang area. These are tricy, but are only two small hex screws. You need a 10mm socket to take these out. Once the screws are out, the plastic cover unclips from the bumper, and can hang free, with the sensor attached. If that is not clear, let me know. ross27 Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Just take your time and you will see all the connectors. Just remember not to unlug the sensor plugs. The most awkward one is getting your hand up to the washer hose connector, as you have next to no play in the bumper. I kind of pulled the undertray back to get my hand up.
