H5 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 shame its a scoob tho...............! What's wrong with a Scooby. Mine was faster than a Zed and handled better on any average UK road.. I have this very dilemma - ugly as sin (Evo is much more Playstation Generation for me! ) but fast as hell. Built by hand fisted pygmies but handles like a dream. My mate has an 07 WRX STi Type UK (plus a few other badges I think) and we did a test Zed vs Scooby back to back. I wanted his for the 4 wheel drive, he wanted mine for the noise and ease of drive. Kev946 Posted September 17, 2007 Author Posted September 17, 2007 Mine had the Prodrive upgrade which included removing one of the cats and a Prodrive rear box. Sounded better than a standard Zed IMHO....but agree they are ugly, but rally cars aren't supposed to be pretty are they? Quote
sinbad Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I didnt like the bugeye so i modified mine! awesome cars though. Shame about the image. Quote

And no, they're not. But I think you're either a Scooby or and Evo person. Quote
rmmackfc Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I like the old school ones better TBH. Scoobs and Evos never entered my head when changing car, very common up here. I'd rather have a 335 BMW Quote

Stew Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I trip over Scoobies and Evos everyday. They did interest me a few years ago. They are fun to blast about in but wouldn't own one! Quote

xStric9x Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Don't really care how fast they are or how they handle, they are so pig ugly and are usually driven by people who think they are rally drivers. Sorry got no time for these cars what so ever!!! Quote

Sorry got no time for these cars what so ever!!! Drive one you may change your views. Very rewarding and the quickest thing from A to B on UK roads. Well at that price anyway. Just have a look at the Stig Lap Times. Quote

Everyone knows they are unbeatable on the roads , unfortunately they have come down to such a price level that the main customers for them seem to live on council sink estates.. call me a snob by all means but the image they have is untenable , unless I start dressing in a nylon shell suit that is What was cutting edge just a few years ago seems very naff now...I hope the Zed doesn't suffer the same problem (cant see it yet though, as they are not as ubiquitous by any means as a Scooby ) Quote

Sorry got no time for these cars what so ever!!! I like cars for their "evo" ness. How a car looks is only part of it. Handling, feel, comfort, enjoyment, speed are other things a look at too off the top of my head. I'm the same driver now as i was when i had the scooby, if anything alittle more experienced. I wouldn't say my attitude to driving has changed much since owning one two years ago. These cars are built by enthusiasts with technical knowhow. Just because they don't have a CAD designer who knows what looks good doesn't mean its a bad car. I agree that they do have a bad image but thats mainly because of how well they perform and how easily people can modify them to to compete with much more expensive exotica. Just look at th Fiat Panda 100bhp. It aint exactly a looker but it tops the supermini list in EVO magazine. Quote

Stew Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 The main reason people drive about like they are rally drivers in these cars is because you can. There is just so mch grip that you can't help yourself but the think you are Colin McRae (RIP)! Quote

However, there are a fair few nice Evo's kicking around. Quote
