G1uk2010 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Did I read somewhere on here that fitting decats normally causes EML issues?? Or am I imagining things (again) Quote
GMballistic Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It can cause the EML to come on yes as it can when fitting HFC's. You can get spacers though which are cheap enough and from what I hear do fix the problem in most cases. I fitted HFC's to my Zed and the EML came on not too long afterwards ~ I just kept doing the pedal dance (ECU reset) to turn it off though after I had the code read to check it was just the HFC's causing the problem. Eventually though I had it turned off for good when I had my UpRev done. Quote

Do these fit between the manifold and the decat or the decat and the Y pice? ? Sorry, I'm not that knowledgable about exhausts lol I do have a code reader to clear the code if it does come up. Just as long as it's not causing any damage. Quote
G1uk2010 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 I'm looking at getting the UpRev done in the near future anyway. So this could be turned off at that point by H-dev or abbey? Quote
GMballistic Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) I'm looking at getting the UpRev done in the near future anyway. So this could be turned off at that point by H-dev or abbey? Yep it was Horsham Developments that sorted mine out for me when they did my UpRev. Fyi the spacers go between the 02 sensors and the de-CAT's. Like the below picture although the picture is of an 02 spacer on a Subaru Forester with de-CAT's. Edit: Also some de-CATs and HFC's do come with a sort of built in spacer. ChrisB Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Shameless pic whoring here, but you get the mother of all spacers built in on the Fast Intentions HFC 1 Quote
GMballistic Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 ^^ Nobody likes a show of Chris. Although who could blame you. 1 Quote
Rock_Steady Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I had to do this recently. the spacers didn't get rid of the EML so I had it deleted down @ my Mates garage. It hasn't come back Quote

It hasn't come back Yeah as I said in most cases the spacers work but for some (like you) it hasn't. Good though that you got it sorted. Nuisance seeing that darn yellow light lit up on the dash ~ even though I knew why it was lit up it was still a downer seeing it lit up every time I started the car. Quote
G1uk2010 Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 Don't you need a special tool to remove the O2 sensor or what's the easiest way around removing it? ? Quote
GMballistic Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Don't you need a special tool to remove the O2 sensor or what's the easiest way around removing it? ? A spanner?! Seriously as far as I know you just need the correct size spanner. Never heard of any specialist tool being needed but happy to be corrected if anyone else knows better. Quote
Rock_Steady Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 yeah. I hated turning the key to see it there, staring me in the face. Glad it's gone. 1 Quote

Haha I'm obviously thinking about something else there. I'll try fitting them myself when I get some. Quote
