Iv'e had this happen more recently with our clients moving over to Office 2013/365 and using files on a shared network and your right...why does it suddenly do it when it was working before?

Find where the Word docs are saved on your PC:

• Right click the file and go to 'Properties'
  
• At the bottom of the 'General' look for Security
  
• If you see a button to the right that says 'Unblock' then the file has quite literally been blocked because it came from another machine...
  

Click the 'Unblock' button and then 'Ok'

Try opening again...worth a shot
