Double din head units?

Niko

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm looking at getting a double din head unit with sat nav and other goodies on it. I've had a look and found appradio like this http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/299/35829/SPH-DA110/page.html

Has anyone got one and how is it?

I've looked on the forum but in still confused on what to get and what I'll need to get it working.

Or any advice on what unit to get would be appreciated.

Cheers :D

Iv got a pioneer head unit a BT one and that can run apps and I can not fault it at all, so a full on app one can't be to bad, you will need

1 adapter harness

1 steering wheel control adapter

1 facer kit to make it fit in the car

And about 1 or 2 hours to fit

Plus you need to do the buster mod as well look it up on here

This link could help you with the parts you will need mate

I'm led to believe the App Radio only works with older iPhones (i.e. not with the 5 or 5S with lightning connector). Has anyone heard whether there's a new version that resolves this? The iPhone 5 has been out for going on two years now.

Yep, there's a firmware update you can do plus you need a cable from pioneer and one from apple too, to make it all play. Start here if you're keen. I couldn't be bothered didn't really see what it added that I'd use.

Thanks - looks reasonable at $50, although I bet when it arrives in the UK it's closer to £100 :O

Definitely makes the App Radio more of an appealing option.

I'm sure the apple proprietary cable alone will be £40

I have the OEM Birdview satnav fitted, and when I was in an ICE specialist shop he told me that replacing my Bose head unit would mean I lost the audio on my original seperate satnav. That can't be true shirley? There must be a way around it. Satnav without sound is just a moving map.

It's true as the Sat nav is standalone and sends its sound to an input on the oem head unit.

So you either have to use an input on the new head unit (no music and sat nav at same time) or install a seperate speaker for the Sat nav.
