Slight vibration on acceleration

Every now and again the car will make a slight vibrating sound when under high revs or acceleration, it doesn't sound mechanical as such but it has got me a little worried as It comes from under the bonnet.

My old EP3 civic used to make a similar noise and it was just the heat shield.

It's due a service soon so I'll get it checked over to make sure it's nothing to worry about but in the meantime is there anything I could be checking??

My new zed has similar symptoms, almost sounds like air rushing past or through something. Also sounds like its coming from under the bonnet. At first I thought it was the wiper blade but it is rev related and not speed related. only happens in 3rd or higher

Did you manage to find out what was causing your's or has any one got any suggestions?

Thanks

I get vibrations, you can particularly feel it if you touch the gearstick, in 3rd or above if you let the revs wind down between 4k and 3k rpm.

I always assumed it was just a quirk, but I'd be interested to know if this is what you have or it if anyone else knows what it is hha.

Unfortunately I think we have different issues as I don't actually feel any vibrations. Just that high sound

Is it like an air sucking sound when you're at like 75% throttle? If so that's just your air intake.

Both suggestions above sound very true. I'm thinking the latter as it gets louder as the induction roar gets louder. I'm only running standard airbox too but it could also easily be something vibrating as the powaaaa come on

I'll try and get a vid on my way to work tomorrow ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

Haha revival or what. Found it using the search and replied instead of making a new thread like a good boy

Definitely sounds like we have different vibrations then. Hope you get it sorted and it's done well to last 2 years haha

I had a noise coming from the rear too, put the car over a pit today and found the problem, it was a heat shield on the underside of the boot had rusted slightly and was loose.

It was vibrating on start up/ revs and banging off the exhaust when you hit a slight bump.

Some oversize washers soon fixed the problem.

Update. Car has been up on the ramps today and out for a road test and neither of the mechanics have any real idea what is causing the noise. They are not confident it's the gear box and taking the thing out at this stage is pointless until I know for sure what the problem is. They said the exhaust is starting to rot and the catalytic converter is looking tired too. Thing is, the noise only comes under load so it's hard to check anything unless the cars driving. It's going in for a belt change tomorrow so they are going to have a proper poke around when the car is on the ramps. I'm starting to think it may be an exhaust issue, I'd be over the moon if that's all it is, cracking excuse to get a new system too. If it's not the exhaust it's going to have to go to a specialist, the car drives absolutely fine, I may be tempted to leave and it unless it gets any worse consider it a quirk
