Upgrade from Bose ?

I have spotted a few Double din Android type headunits on Ebay, they dont seem that expensive, is this because they are rubbish, I emailed a car audio place and the reply was,

"the problem with your car is the Bose amplified system this requires special adaptors to allow a new sysetms to be fitted to the car these can cost upto £150."

Is this correct, £150 just to wire it into the car, I was thinking I could spend perhaps £300 on a head unit and perhaps £100 to get it fitted, fitting, new bezel, wires etc.

Not after improving the sound quality (yet) as relative to my previous car it is a lot better, but want to improve the functionality so I can use memory cards, video capability, have bluetooth and possibly GPS.

The car audio guy went on to suggest I would need to spend £1200 or more and I am not about to do that, £500, preferably less is my budget.
