Grinding into 6th

Gearbox started grinding into 6th, usually when changing from 4th to 6th.. Unless I really guide the stick into 6th it grinds, really not ideal when you come up against a vxr and fancy a race.. Don't like it knowing that I might not be able to get into 6th gear at high speeds

140mph+ races

 

Common Z fault from 4th to 6th.....recondition job only unfortunately! If its only 4th to 6th that's a problem I wouldn't be too worried but 5th to 6th is a bigger issue

Yeah I'm not to worried tbh, thought it might be a common issue as a friend has pretty much the exact same problem.

There's less pull in 6th than in 5th so unless you're on a 2km long straight hitting the speed limiter you don't need 6th

 

Anyway, yea, common issue, about £500 to replace the synchromesh plus removal and fitting if the box.

I did notice it happen once when I went into 6th, nothing since though.

Same issue Hooch. If you rev match when changing gear it won't happen.

I have never been in 6 gear racing anything what bloody speed where you doing

The best way of doing a gearbox is having a seperate one to get recondioned.

Stick some molyslip in it and see what happens.

And don't rush the gear box.

It was quite a quick change, not sure on the speed, it was on private roads

Im curious about the 5th to 6th crunch mentioned......anyone got any more info? my neighbor said he has thas issue from time to time.
