Radio signal reception issue!

Hi all, hoping someone can shed some light on this!

Aftermarket head unit fitted, seems to be the same on 2 different units. JDM car

When I turn the ignition on the radio comes on and it takes about 3 seconds before I get any decent signal. With a stubby aerial fitted I get about bugger all!

I did some digging about the aerial setup and there was reference to the aerial on the 350z being powered and the box was behind the panels in the boot. This I have found and it does indeed seem to be some sort of diversity aerial which isn't easy to remove without cutting it out.

I'm tempted to rip the whole lot out and run a new standard aerial cable but before I do can anyone shed any light on the matter, is there a wire in the stock loom I need to connect to power this box up or anything else I'm missing?

Thanks in advance

Kev

All I can say is the reception has always been crap on mine and its a 2009.

I tryed a few stubbys.1st one a ebay cheapy and not very good. 2nd a Honda one which was better.

But none of them seemed to work better than the OEM one.

Its the only one that will keep a local channel when going down reigate Hill towards Gatwick.

It's obviously on there for a reason.

Is the box in the back you found the AMP one located on the right?

Just get DAB radio dude. That's what i'm gonna do.

That will not sort out the reception issues?

I was going Dab but was adviced against it!

You get another ariel for that is my understanding.

Why were you advised against it? What do you use now? Internet radio?

I would be tempted to try an original arial just to eliminate the stubby before you spend your time running a new cable
