Upgrading Sky Router

Looking for advice on changing my Sky Sagem router, which is less that great. I really dont understand any of the MAC/MER/?????? iv found on the internet searches. I know it can be done, but can someone help me please. Got a router to play with at the weekend, and if all goes well il get one. Router will be a TP link W8961ND.

You need to "hack it" to get the username and password, they won't release that to you if you call.

 

Let me do some searches, I did it for a friend sometime ago and worked fine.
