Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever painted there brake calipers themselves?

Just want to see how easy it is and if anyone can recommended a good product?

Cheers

I remember doing them on my first ever car (ford focus) and I will never try again :blush:

I painted mine with Hammerite

Wire brushed, then cleaned with gunk, then warm water & fairy liquid, then cellulose thinnners

It was a warm fine day and left to dry between each stage, then left overnight to dry so no dust stuck on

Did it all without taking them off the car

Not sure how many days you'll get now warm and fine - until springtime or unless you have a snug garage for the job

Hours of cleaning, rubbing down and de greasing. VHT red paint , decals, and then VHT clear lacquer.DSC_0003_zps5f940f29.jpg

Looks awesome, exactly how I want mine!!

How easy was it to do?

just be careful of anything that isn;t a polymer based paint. it will if brake fluid gets on it, get damaged.

if you do use either normal car paint or VHT paint swap to a silicone based brake fluid. this is not corrosive to non polymer paints.

As with everything, end result directly proportional to amount of preparation. Just follow the advice myself and others have given.

Thanks  Painstaking but I'm glad i did it. Gold on an Azure didn't seem to look right.

I agree, that's why I had mine done Azure in powder coat :)
