AFTERSHOX Posted September 27, 2012 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Afternoon folks Any advice on cleaning & maintaining the soft top on the 370z roadster? *fingers crossed* I'll be upgrading my 2007 facelift 350z coupe to a 2011 plate (MY10) 370z Roadster this weekend; if the DVLA hurry up and transfer my private number plate over in time; As I've never owned a soft top before - I was wondering what products do you use and the best advice on frequency of cleaning / water proofing? How good is the proofing from factory? Any experience of how long it lasts typically before needing maintenance? I'm a big fan of the Meguiars stuff - and was looking at their two products for cleaning and protecting / weather proofing? Anyway I have a 350 - I used Renovo to get the colour back originally and use the Autoglym kit for maintenance. I use the Autoglym protector very frequently (every 3 months) and it works really well - mine lives outside all year round - rain just runs off it. Will370z Posted September 27, 2012 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Congrats on the purchase you will love it ( when you add a nice exhaust that is the stock one is far too quiet). The roof material is different to the 350 soft top - much softer. I use the auto glum fabric hood cleaning kit. It contains 1 bottle of fabric roof cleaning and one bottle of protector. You get a rough applicator sponge too. They work a treate and you get great beading. Those should do you fine. One thing to note I've read in a few places don't snow foam the roof. Any other questions just ask. Big big important note however, please check that when opening and closing the doors the windows drop and don't catch the roof. I know of 3 owners on this forum that had this problem and it turns into a real nightmare. They should not do this but it's a common fault. Thankfully Rosie is all fine. The 'roof rubbing / catching' problem viewtopic.php?f=102&t=58583 I was already aware of *thanks to this forum*; that was the first thing I checked on arrival and inspection; the roof fitting is good on this one. To be honest, I was shocked with how Nissan had dealt with Roger's issue; I truly hope, *fingers crossed* that his problem gets sorted once and for all. NeilMH Posted April 8, 2013 Share Posted April 8, 2013 You shouldn't need to do this very often but initially I used the Renovo Soft Top Canvas Cleaner then the Soft Top Reviver (Black) (Not for Vinyl Soft Tops) to restore the colour of the roof. Iv'e been googling this for over an hour to work out what to use on my 2008 roadster and was generally getting the feeling that the roofs are vinyl.
