marzman Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hi guys, So im on the verge of buying a new laptop. I use my laptop for at least 4 hours a day, just general use, with the exception of doing some HD video editing every now and then. My current 4yr old laptop is cripplingly slow when using the video editing software, with it taking up to 6 hours to process a 15-minute video. So, i've told myself that i should get an i5 powered laptop, with a minimum 4gb ram. However, does anyone have any first hand experience of doing video editing on an i3? The price difference is quite large (£250+ for an i3 vs £400+ for an i5). Cheers Chris. Quote
marzman Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Sod it, never mind - i've just bought a Dell Inspiron 15R i5-2450M with 4GB Ram for £340. Quote

Yea an i5 will do the job better than an i3, depending on what your editing upping the RAM to 8GB will make it an even faster and smoother process. Quote
spursmaddave Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Should have got an i7 Only messing that will be fine i'm sure, as doogy says though upping the ram will make a difference, cost me £30 to up my mini mac to 8gb and then I sold my 4gb on eBay for £20 Quote
