What's the safe rev limit on a Z? Display says 8k!

Was wondering earlier what's the safe rev limit of our cars, I'm not one for revving high anyway as mine is set to 6200 on the display but it goes to 8000 as the limit? Surely this can't be right or safe? Just curious that's all

You have a rev limiter that's dependant on the engine in your car: Either 6500, 7000, or 7500. What you're setting is the change-up light, not the rev limiter.

Mine was set at 5800 when I brought it and have never changed it

You can shift whenever you want, it's only for your own use/benefit. Tbh the light is a bit too small to be really helpful.

I actually think the light is pretty good. Mine is set at 6600, which is right on the brink of the redline. As far as I know it's always been that, but I'm crap at changing gear anyway so I don't really go there too often! (NO ONE SHOULD EVER SAY 'SHIFTING'.. BLOODY AMERICANS)

Yeah thought that was the gear change light, but a mate thought it was a limiter

 

Don't think they need to rev high tbh although it's a wonderful noise
