Bose left speaker problem/adaptor for new HU.

Just picked up the new car and the Bose left speaker problem is doing my head in already! Was hoping the fix would be easier than I have since found out that it is so I'm now considering a new head unit.

My first question is, if I was to change for a JVC/Pioneer or similar double din unit, would I lose all my steering wheels controls? Assuming I would, can I get an adaptor to save these? If so how much, where from and how easy are they to fit?

Also, any reccomendations? Really not looking to spend a fortune after just buying the car and needing a service soon. Do I need to ensure the HU is of a certain spec in terms of outputs and amps in order to work fully with the Bose speakers?

Cheers,

Josh

Yeah, read the DIY giude for the ribbon fix but I'm useless with any fiddly job such as that so a tad afraid to even have a go myself tbh!

I messaged a user called R35Lee (I think) who I spotted fixes them on here but no idea if he's still about?

May have a go of fixing myself if it comes to it, no harm in trying I suppose

Had a look through previous threads but just wanted to double check what I'm getting...

The HU's I've narrowed it down to...

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/kenwood- ... 25866.html

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/jvc-kwr5 ... 34733.html

Then I will need all 3 items on one of the following pages?......

http://incartec.co.uk/nissan/1929/1036/ ... owser.aspx

http://incartec.co.uk/nissan/1929/1036/ ... owser.aspx

Is that all I need and are the HU's up to spec to work fully with the BOSE system?

Cheers,

Josh :)

  • 2 months later...

If you have Bose then the Kenwood in your post only has 2xRCA so you have F + R or S/W

Sorry mate, bit of a noob when it comes to audio! What is S/W? I have actually bought that very Kenwood, does it mean the Bose won't work properly then?

I've since worked out you mean the Sub won't work? :bangin:

Anyway, I'm guessing I need 1 more RCA output? If so, would one of these splitters do the job without effecting the output quality/wattage etc?

Thanks again!

May work but not great as the unit is set for F + R or F + SW If you already have the unit try it when you fit it, F + SW might sound better than trying to run F + R + spliced or split SW too....

Thanks for advice mate! Will wait till the HU comes and try that first.

In my old car I had an amp and 2 subs fitted to the standard SEAT HU professionally. I'm guessing he spliced the rca cables in order to do this and tbh there was no effect on the sound quality so hopefully it won't effect it in this situation :)
