Mysterious squeaky noise?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently I've noticed a really high pitched squeaky noise coming from somewhere when I drive over an uneven road. I'm trying to work out if it's interior or suspension related but I'm finding it difficult to tell!

Do the seats or seat belt clips suffer from this if they're not greased enough?

Is there something I should check first that's common on other 350z's?

I appreciate your help guys!

+1 on the suspension bushes!! i've found it hard to pin point a squeeky bush on other cars, so just end up spraying lube over all of them.

try the knee pad on the passenger side, this sqeeks on mine  . if you get somebody to push it slightly and the noise stops then you have found the problem. it will need packing out from behind

open the doors, and near the top on the inside of the door, you will see a black rubber bung. same in the boot lid.

anything on the rear suspension that can move, lube it.

Get under the rear end and you wlll see the bushes quite clearly, dont forget the droplinks also need a drink too.

LM ok for door bungs, only a smear required on these mate, you gonna need spray grease for the suspension.

Thanks mate, ill get on it.

Is Castrol LM Grease okay to use? I've got a tub of it sitting in the garage...

On the doors nope, you need silicone grease or similar.

WD doesnt have the life span od grease, and gets washed away quicker. But you could try, no harm done IMO

would WD40 do, or is there a better solution?

ok will do. what's a good spray grease to look at?

Go to halfords, you can get spray grease there in a blue n yellow aerosol can, that's what I use, good stuff IMO.

I just get it from the internet alot cheaper. Any spray grease will be fine TBH. If you do want to buy local phone your local autosmart rep

My driver's seat squeaks over bumps. It seems to come from the left hand side as it sometimes squeaks when I'm stationary and pushing the clutch pedal i.e. pushing on the left side of the seat by moving left leg on the clutch. I think it might be the leather moving around the seat adjustment switches.

I think my centre console/knee pads also squeak a bit over uneven ground as well

Move your seat forward a bit. Bet its rubbing on something.

Maybe you have a mouse caught somewhere? That's what my mrs says about my breaks and other squeeky bits ;)
