19" Tyres sizes

Recommended Posts

Folks I've been reading that the recommended tyre size for 19x10 wheels(front and back) is 245 front and 275 rear however on my car I've got 255 front and 275 rear.. is this to much of a difference for the TCS or will it still be happy with that?

thanks guys I'm happy with that. I thought the rolling radius increased with the width of the tyre also hence being concerned? I'm really strugging to understand this lol :bang:

Profile is what you're after here, and it's based on a percentage of the tyre width.

For example (and done deliberately to keep the maths easy):

A 200/50/18 tyre will have a profile wall of 100mm

A 200/40/18 tyre will have a profile wall of 80mm

The rolling radius will therefore be that much less on the 40 tyre than then 50 tyre.

A 200/50/18 tyre has the same rolling radius as a 400/25/18 tyre, if one were to exist of course!

so my tyres are 255/35/ZR19 on the front and 275/35/ZR19 on the rear so it should be fine :) Thanks guys!

Out of interest is there a formula to work out what the rolling radius is?

Also if known what is the allowed difference on the Z before TCS freaks out?
