SteveW Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I'm planning on doing my P3 service tomorrow, got all my bits so been reading up on the coolant change procedure. In the service manual it talks about removing a threaded plug from the engine block to fully drain the system. Is this necessary? Or is there an alternative method to draining all the coolant out? Don't like removing things that can start leaking again... It also mentions this core plug needs resealing when refitted. If i have to remove this plus is loctite 648 ok for resealing this plug? Thank you Steve Quote
ZMANALEX Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 No requirement to go to those extremes Steve. Just take the bottom hose off the radiator and let the coolant drain from the engine and the radiator. Be careful that you do not scald yourself but do it whilst the coolant is hot so that the thermostat is open. Alex Quote
SteveW Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 Thanks Alex, Thought there must be a way where you didn't disturb the block plugs! Flame proof and water proof gloves at the ready then! Lol Quote
Zugara Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Even if you did, I would have suggested PTFE tape not lock tight. Quote
