Phone kit - are they any use?

Hi all,

My Zed has the car kit installed, and has some random (Motorola?) phone attachment. Am thinking of getting the bluetooth one. Question is, those that use the kit, either direct connection or bluetooth, is it worth shelling out to use it? Can you hear the other person, can they hear you?

Having got the bluetooth one, I dont think Id bother again if I knew what it would be like.

Its ok when stationery and at low speeds, but anything greater I always have problems with the other person hearing me, so most conversations are very short!

Voice dialling also isnt very good when driving. If that bl**dy woman says 'pardon' one more time...........

surely its easier to just use a phone how ur meant to.?? :p

Yeah, but the lap top tends to need more focus....... ;)

I just don't want to spend £100 if I'm only going to end up using the speaker on the phone anyway!!

personally i have used it a few times, and i tend to shout at people rather than talk. Its ok for around town but as soon as you are on a fast road i find it useless.

I use mine a lot. Just speak clearly and plainly, both on calls and and when instructing the little woman.

I wouldn't be without for answering incoming.

Biggest pain is keeping the programming up to date.

Don't have any issues with mine but then most of my driving is around town.

It is better than a aftermarket blue tooth kit which I have also in the Z. Never got round to ripping it out.

Mine is worth it for the entertainment value alone...

"Dial Name" says I

"Pardon" says the bint

"Dial Name" says I

"Pardon" says the bint

(repeat 3 or 4 more times)

"Dial Name" says I

"The name please" says the bint, finally

"Roger" says I

"Home" says the bint

Cue much falling about laughing - not

The best way is to record the names at your typical driving speed - seems to work better then.

So 3 'not great' and 2 'ok'.

Ask it another way, is it worth £100 if you don't have it?

add 1, it is crap.

You can only use it when driving slowly, and even then you wont have any privacy as basically everybody around you can hear what the guy on the other end of the line is saying as the speaker can be heard quite well on the outside of the car :headhurt:

I like it and use it alot. The quality isn't great but if you are likely to have to need your phone a lot whilst in the car, then get it. Better than a pull from the fuzz

Well no, coz you will get annoyed by the fact that ppl at the other side of the line cannot understand you, so you ll end up calling with the phone in a "normal" way anyway. I guess investing in a bluetooth headset is a better option ;)
