cerealuk Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I'm with sky insurance, guess how much they wanted for me adding them? ....... ........ Nothing, zero pounds, not a sausage, not a bean ! Big thumbs up to an insurance company that isn't just out to rob my money Quote
cerealuk Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 fantastic mate, now get em on Gotta buy some first lol :-) Keep missing the forum bargains :-( Quote
seamybaby Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 would be a bit tight of them to charge for spacers to be honest........... Quote
philb1965 Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Good to hear, it makes a change. I'm with Admiral but I'm going to give the forum insurers a try as I've a few more mods I'd like to do. Quote
rabbitstew Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Should really hope they wouldnt charge, spacers are hardly a big risk, just make the track a bit wider. What made me laugh years ago is I had an 850cc mini with 20bhp and i fitted a roll cage. It weighed loads and made the car even slower and yet the insurance company jacked my premium up so much i could hardly afford to insure it! Quote
BACON Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I honestly expected to find a huge sum described when I opened this topic but pleasantly surprised....good information to have! Quote
Squee Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 good stuff! I'm with Sky too and hoping to get some spacers in the not too distant future. Will probs ring and tell Sky what I'm up to as it's probably best that all mods are 'on file'. What sort/size are you going for Cereal? Quote

I think what it is they dont like people messing around with the structural integrity of the car. Control arms for example, have been designed by engineers to have a factor of safety that is calculated to withstand the working stress to avoid failure. By adding spacers these calculations are only worth the paper there written on. And because no one has done the calculations to prove the suspention componants can take the stress of increased track width, there comes your insurance risk. Quote
