AK350Z Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I chuffing love the shuttle. Strapping yourself to a massive boiling fuel tank attached to two solid fuel rockets that can't be switched off! Talk about the Right Stuff... Quote
Simon+Kat Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I agree.....just a shame they kept dropping out of the sky!! Awe inspiring machine though, and very brave and skilled pilots. Quote
JetSet Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I did a tour of Kennedy Space centre in 1994, one of the shuttles was on the pad, 2 days away from launch so I couldn't get too near. I was staying in Orlando and after much debate decided not to go to the launch...the 06:00 launch time was the big decider . Anyway, tuned in to the TV to find that the launch was aborted at something like T -3 seconds . Did manage to go inside the replica Shuttle though Pete Quote
paulie Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Mr Paulie was telling me recently that he remembered getting out of class in primary school as the space shuttle was doing a flyby (piggybacked) I thought he was mental but turns out it did! http://www.hiddenglasgow.com/forums/vie ... ?f=3&t=788 Quote
phatbloke74 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I work in the space industry and was lucky enough to go to Russia to watch 5 of our satellites go up. Quote
phatbloke74 Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Kind of, I work for a company called Surrey Satellite Technology based in Guildford but it's now owned by the EADS group. Quote
