George Dredd Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Hi can anybody tell me if it sounds like my gearbox is playing up.... when I change gear I can hear a bit of a clunk, it happens in all gears only as I move the gear stick, it is a noticeable sound but does not affect the gear change or performance, it is just a one off clunk as I change gear, are your gearboxes totally silent as you make the shift or am I just being paranoid? The car is a 54 plate with 69000 on the clock. Thanks Quote

Will370z Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Don't worry sounds perfectly normal, i was worried about the same thing when I first bought mine but found it was normal. Seems a notchy clunky gearbox especially noticeable in first and second. Quote

It also make quite a lot of noise when just moving the stick around with the engine off with clutch pedal depressed. I think the gear shift linkage is just noisy on this box as is the release bearing Quote
