chrisgunton Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Howdy, It's cold, dark, and I'm trying to get my AVH P4200DVD installed before the girlfriend gets home I've got the proper loom from ICT, as well as the steering controls remote. It's replacing the Bose with sub etc. Last little bit and I'm confused by the instruction included with the Pioneer. Which phono sockets to these 4 connect to? What about the Bose sub??? Also, I connected these 2 together (the blue and white)but I don't know if I should have or not... Help! Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 I also just noticed that the ICT loom has 2 loose wires, a black and white (i assume to connect to a ground) and a blue and white... What's the blue and white for? Quote
sparky370z Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 You appear to be missing the steering wheel control loom. I had loads of random wires on mine. It took me ages to work it all out. Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 I have that, it's just not shown in the photos Quote
sparky370z Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Oh ok. I have only just done this. Put in a double din unit. But i really cant bloody remeber where the black phono goes. I think that basically the red and white are the left speakers and the yellow and black do the right. I think that u have it connected right in the last photo. Make sure u ground the parking park wire too. Also dependant of the loom you have, u have to chop off one of the plugs and actually solder wires together. This is for the steering wheel controls. I'll have a look for the guide i used. Quote
sparky370z Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 sorry dude, but i cant find the bloody links to the pages i used. i printed them out and everything just cant find them. sorry bud Quote
sparky370z Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Doh! Found the one i used. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=31260&p=458149&hilit=Bose+connections#p458149 Hope this helps Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 Mine is the plug and play loom - so I don't think I need to join anything except the ground (and handbrake to ground). I'm confused about the Bose sub though - does yours function after the install? Quote
chippy Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 This is the thread I followed (you may have allready seen it), when I fitted my 4100 DVD http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=19787 This is my install thread - always details which phonos go where, but looks from you pic that you've sorted that now? http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=28706 Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Turns out I have everything I needed, and more or less connected correctly. It's all installed and working.... ....however the fascia is too snug and won't let it open and close smoothly. Gonna have to shave some of the plastic from it today Quote
sparky370z Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I had the same issue. Undo the mounting screws and just tilt it up. Worked for me. No messing with the fascia at all. Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 All done Many thanks for the advice! Quote
glrnet Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Way to go Chris, glad you got it sorted. I'd be interested to know what you think of this model, it's sort of on my short list at the mo Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 Way to go Chris, glad you got it sorted. I'd be interested to know what you think of this model, it's sort of on my short list at the mo So far so good. The screen is ok, touch and drag is very responsive. Loads of outputs (and inputs) on the rear. Downsides are it appears a little sluggish loading track information for the iPod. It changes track quickly but takes 5+ seconds to read the titles, info and artwork. It has USB, but you have to choose between iPod and USB when installing it - you might be able to rig something up but you generally have one or the other. LinkSearch is neat if you are using an iPod. You can search for all music from the currently playing artist - or find related tracks. Very neat. DVD and video I havent really had a chance to experiment with yet. Setting custom backgrounds is a fiddle. You have to create the image, distort it, and then view it as a slideshow and "capture" the image to the HU and then you can set it as your background. I havent really had a good play with it yet, but I'll keep you posted. Quote

ric Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Install looks good! Could I ask though, what parts did you purchase to keep your steering wheel controls? Do they all work as expected etc? Thanks in advance Quote
cb350 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 looks good! What fascia adapter did you use? It looks like quite a good fit. Quote
chrisgunton Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 I purchased: ICT 29-674 - The main loom ICT 29-020 - The steering wheel control loom ICT 50-256 - The fascia All from Sextons direct I also got a CD-IU50V - the Pioneer lead for connecting an iPod - which I didn't use. If anyone wants it give me a shout and we can work something out. Quote
