tyre blackner on paintwork??

I washed and polished the car yesterday in the lovely sunshine and then it rained this morning

 

I used some tyre blackner stuff on the black areas of the car, like the badges and around the mirrors, and now with the rain I have just noticed that it had run down the paintwork. I will obviosuly be getting a cloth to it later but will it damage the paintwork or leave a mark?

Not sure about damage, but i think most of them remove polish.

is it not written on the side of the bottle not to use the tyre blackener on trim? which brand?

It's maguires, which have the frustrating label on back that you have to tear off and then its gone forever!!

if it is im pretty sure it said don't use it on trim

no it was the spray, I've always used a detailing brush and put a small amount on rthe black of the badges etc - guess I shouldnt be doing this??

dont know about the spray, nip by halfrauds and read a label, or some kind soul who doesnt work can do it for you here if they ahve the same stuff

you need to tear label off back of meguires to see the BG section though - not sure Halfords would appreciate me ripping there stock!

I would have thought it would be silicone based,might be a bit of a pain to shift but should not do any damage.

 

The clues in the name TYRE blackener you use it for TYRES,get some Aerospace 303 for your black plastics.

you dont have to rip the label off there is a sticky tab you pull it folds out

I'm pretty sure you're meant to read the instructions (or in this case destructions) BEFORE using products????

 

 

I'd imagine it'll come off with a wash easy enough however I would do it sooner rather than later.
