looking for ideas - day trip from SE London

Hi - want to escape the Big Smoke in my new Zed this weekend, looking for a nice day trip involving some nice quiet roads and a country/coastal destination. Anyone have any ideas? Was thinking Whitstable, but think it's pretty much main roads all the way...maybe 2hrs or so each way

wales. its a fair way but may have nice roads

I find the A24 (from the M25 area) down to the A27 offers some good winding stretches and fair amout of dual (70mph) roads not too many cameras - nice watering/food stop at Kingsfold - The Wise Old Owl. Could loop back via the A29 from the A27. About an hour each way from the M25 and back.
