VW North West yesterday Tatton Park

Recommended Posts

We had out maiden family voyage in the van yesterday - after frantically sewing seat covers for the rock and roll bed I managed to get it bolted in and finished by Saturday just in time! :surrender:

Its been about 10 years since I last went to a Vw show - not much has changed other than it did'nt rain for the first time at Tatton!!

Took loads of pictures just a few Van biased ones as a taster. Damn I even took pics of a mint Polo from the mid 70's - never thought I would be doing that!!

Lucy liked the show and we think Ania will be into Aircooled VW's - we have never seen her so happy! :D

Here is ours in the car park - Ania test driving the new seat (nappy changing stylie!)

Normally the best finds are always in the car park or the for sale section - can't beleive the prices though :scare:

A legend in VW interior work - http://bernardnewbury.posterous.com/history-1415

If you fancy something bog standard but nicely trimmed this is your man.

If you want something crazy - he's still your man.

I was going to get a half modified bug MANY years ago... it was gorgeous. Bergundy, with chrome engine parts, you could even see the fuel going through the clear pipes.

At the rear the air vents beneath the rear window had been sealed over with one complete section of metal, although written through the metal was the word Imagination in nice italic writting. This then formed part of the ventilation - but served a purpose at providing a message. Wheels were taken from a Renault 19 Chamade - gave it a nice porsche look - dropped to the nines this was a stunning car.

Your camper looks nice - very clean, but clearly needs spacers!!

Wasso - any pics of that bug? :)

My mate had a purple bug with ENVY in his rear vents in a similar vein - spent 12 months restoring, building , modding then the week it was finished some scumbag ran into the side of it - poor sod! :surrender:

Aye I know about Bernard Newbury from years ago  but I used to do trimming for a living. It crossed my mind to get back into the game and specialise in Classic and VW stuff but not enough hours, or money in it these days, so I do it for myself only. Will post up some interior pics when I'm done -cupboards to make up and fit next

Thanks for the compliments btw very kind ;)

I'm afraid not - this was 17 years ago - when camera's weren't around

I have one picture I think, or maybe two but it's in some photo album thing - I shall see if I can dig it out tonight.

I always wanted a bug, it looks good either modified or standard. Always wanted a Wizard (I'm sure it's called wizard) The ones with a dropped roof. They looked mean but cool.

Hey' you should get back into the Interior work, make something different of your camper. There's only one problem with that, once you start, there will be no end!!

Get some interior pics up

Aye Whizzard Roadsters - you can pick them up for pennies now - I've been on the scene since '86 remember when they came out!

You will be surprised how cheap Beetles are now - they have lost favour - Vans are the in thing - weird but I vowed never to get a Baywindow bus and here I am ...... :D

Get one mate you wont regret it - www.carandclassic.co.uk

re: interior I've gone for a classic 50/60's type look really cool blue and cream ,no time to keep modding it got a baby girl to bring up - finally learnt my lessons sometimes you need to stop and just enjoy the things you have otherwise you will just spend spend spend, polish and never use the damn thing! :bangin:

Anyway get your self off to Leeds next sunday www.vwfestival.co.uk you might just spot something you like :snack:

Man oh man - can't afford another car yet. I've spent too much on the ZED already. I have plans next year to take the ZED to the next level in 2011 - until then funds are dry!!

Although, I would love to have an old beetle and do it up - although again cost!!

Ah the Wizzard thing, I was wrong - this is the example I meant - I used to love the lowered roof look http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_ima ... _large.jpg

Give's it a mean stance!

Can't make next Sunday - will be at the Jap2

Paaaaannndaaa poweeeeeer!

Wasso those modded bugs take some serious skill to do especially with a chopped roof look mean indeed.

No need to explain about cars we take fleet insurance at our house and once upon a time we had 2 Zeds parked on the drive also... :drive1

Enjoy your zed and remember there is always room for a teeny seenu Beetle in everyones life
