MarkW Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Went to look for one in my local Halfords yesterday, couldnt find it and the assistant didnt know about it either Is it worth me trying another store, or are these plastic ones from the US on ebay any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-350Z-350-Z ... dZViewItem Quote
M13KYF Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Halfords do two different widths. Use the wider one. 7.5mm I think. Its made by HR Auto Comfort and its 3 metres by 7.00mm. Stay clear of the other stuff which they sell. Japanese instructions only If they haven't got it in your local store try another one. Don't buy the ebay stuff. It's overpriced and I think Liam has it and he doesn't rate it. It's all bubbling up. also just moving this to correct section Quote
The Thing Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 There are quite a few in my local Halfords... I bought the one made by HR Auto Comfort, not too sure about the quality of those Japanese makes... Two packs, and the results... Quote
MarkW Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Thanks for replies. Very impressed Mr Thing! Like the way you have done the vertical bars as well How long did it take you to do the whole thing? and do you need any tools or just a sharp pair of scissors? Quote
M13KYF Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 one pack will do the horizontal bars like mine. took about 30 minutes to fit. Scissors is fine Quote
Liam's Z Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 There are quite a few in my local Halfords... I bought the one made by HR Auto Comfort, not too sure about the quality of those Japanese makes... Two packs, and the results... Very impressive mate Quote
MarkW Posted September 4, 2006 Author Posted September 4, 2006 Decisions, Decisions...... Cant decide which I prefer now between Mike's and Thingys? Think I'll get two packs just in case........ Quote
bernmc Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Do these come with a burberry cap included? Quote
The Thing Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I use a different product for the vertical bars... bought in Halfords as well, but it is something like a rubber chrome clip (i.e. U shape)... It is sold as a pack of 5 pieces of (probably) 5" length... one pack is enough for all the vertical bars… Time wise, probably 1-2 hours, depending on your patience and precisian… I started with one pack, thinking of just doing the horizontal bars, but got carried away… Like what I did though… Quote
M13KYF Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 When you do come to fit it MarkW you'll need a hairdryer to warm the stuff up. It makes it more pliable and easier to bend. Sticks down better to Quote
Chesterfield Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Ive only done the horizontal bars, but Im starting to think that doing the vertical too gives a more "aggressive" look... Quote
MarkW Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 Here are the results of my Chrome grille fitting today. Very pleased with it. Credits to The Thing and Mike for the inspiration Note the 'Z' badge fitted as well Before 3 Bars 3 Bars plus surround The Full Monthy Ive decided I like it best with the full monty so its staying like that! Can't be done to a Nismo bumper The Nismo kit is great, but two packs of chrome grille kit for £19.99 is considerably cheaper Quote
Stew Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I like it. Maybe the inspiration is catching... Quote
monkfish Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Looks great Mark! I want a chrome grille!! Quote
MarkW Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Well just in case anyone else fancies having a go, this is the stuff I used as recommended earlier in the thread. Couldnt find it anywhere in Halfords so had to ask an assistant, it then seemed to appear from 'under the counter'! Quote
