Polish & Wax

All depends what kind of wax, generally the liquid you can leave on for a while, decent carabuna wax 5-10 minutes usually as if its left to harden it will be a real bitch to take off.

As for time again it depends how thorough you are being, if its a hand polish with something like AG SRP then maybe 1-2 hours but if your machine polishing you can literally spend days on one job.

Agree with ^^^ yesterday decided to get all the bugs off the front of the zed, so wash & de bug left the front looking not what it should be so out came the machine polish gear. Ended up doing the whole front / bonnet & wing tops & a bit of paint correction to get rid of the scratches the neighbours cat had left when sliding down the bonnet.

2 types of polish 1 sealant & 1 wax & 3 hours were gone!! but it does look B) now...that is until the missus comes home in it tonight covered in bugs again no doubt

How long fo you guys leave polish and wax on before taking it off? And how long does it take you guys to polish and wax a car (putting it on).

First we need to know what polish and wax you are using.

For polish, just wipe it around (if by hand) and let it haze a bit, then buff off when its hazed and dry. If it smudges its still not hazed and needs more working in (breaking down) before removing.

For wax, the time again depends, but usually, as soon as it starts to haze then buff it off. Give it varying times and see which works best with you. You should be able to buff it off in a few easy wipes. If it doesnt feel dry and it smudges, then you havent left it long enough. If it takes quite a bit of effort and rubbing, you've left it too long. Different waxes have different curing times. Any wax with a decent canuba content will also sweat. This means that you might need to go over the car again with a MF when you are done as it might look to have gone hazy again.

Its all trial and error really
