I know that aircon systems can go like that after a while, especially if not used that often or get damp etc? Not sure if its some of the gas etc needs replenishing...... but you could try it under warranty? Hope you get it sorted, thats not nice..... having a smelly car Quote

Beavis Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Well mine is only a year old and only done 4800 miles. Should not need a service yet. But i know that having owned a lexus that they run a substance through your aircon to get rid of bad smell maily from things like fungus or rotting leaves. Quote
Removed Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 think it's quite a known fact, mine does when i switch it off, after a bit. have you been using it regularly during the winter, like switching it on for about 1 hr every week? otherwise "mold" can grow in it and make it a) unhealthy to breathe and smelly That's what i read a while back Quote

jim Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Btw, do they sell this at Halfords etc? I have just bought a tin of this cleaner at Halfords in Stirling. I'll let you know how I get on with it. By the way, I think there is more to this than just an odd smell. I noticed an odour during a longish drive on Friday when I used the aircon for a long period really for the first time since I got the car (an import). On Saturday I began to feel unwell and by Sunday had quite bad flu symptoms. It could just be coincidence but I'm going to use the cleaner anyway. Jim Quote
