mylesmcg
just got a few questions 1. what are the purpose of spacers? 2. do they make the car handle better or worst? 3. what's the best size to go for? 4. does anything else need to be done when these are fitted? (alignment etc) 5. does anyone have good pics to show the difference in stock and with spacers fitted? thanks in advance for your help

Chris`I
1. what are the purpose of spacers? To change the stance of the wheels, fill out the arches properly 2. do they make the car handle better or worst? Make near to sod all difference unless you are tracking it, even they you prob wont notice 3. what's the best size to go for? Depends on what wheels, but 20-25mm at a guess, see CS thread 4. does anything else need to be done when these are fitted? (alignment etc) Shouldnt need doing unless your car is lowered. But might be worth a check when you next get tyres 5. does anyone have good pics to show the difference in stock and with spacers fitted? See CS thread he PMd

mylesmcg
Spacers basically push the wheels out, which line them up with the wheel arch, they also visually reduce the distance between the tyre and wheel arch. Handling isn’t made worse, as you’re widening the track. If you have RAYS or Standard wheels then 20mm front and rear is what I always recommend. Nothing else is needed when fitting them. after this is what i got back from CS. will definitely be getting spacers after looking at the pics

Chris`I
get wider tyres instead 2cm wider tyres? They will just look bulgy and rubbish. Get spacers
andlid
get wider tyres instead 2cm wider tyres? They will just look bulgy and rubbish. Get spacers current tyre size rear on my yoke (JDM) = 235 20mm wider = 255 ... suppose that's wider in both directions (a bit I'd guess) so lets take another 20mm = 275... Where I would want to be in tyre width when I'm finished =

MSportUK
If you add spacers, don't you need to do something with the studs - otherwise you'll lose 20mm of thread. Surely that can't be safe, especially for track use?!
MITZ@CougarStore
The studs are pressed into the spacers, so no loss occurs…
marzman
If you add spacers, don't you need to do something with the studs - otherwise you'll lose 20mm of thread. Surely that can't be safe, especially for track use?! No. The eibach spacers bolt onto your existing studs and then have their own studs instead. I havent noticed any difference in handling with them on. They are purely for cosmetic purposes. Until you see a car with them you'll wonder what all the fuss is about, but then you see them on a car and realise its a must-do mod! They just make the car look right! Getting wider tyres will not help at all. Its all to do with the face of your wheels being level with the edge of your arches.
