Hi Guys---can anyone guide me with regard to getting a replacement key for my import? Nissan main dealers here in Cambridge can get a blank--but cannot guarantee success in getting/copying the code. I have looked on your forums but cannot find any links or threads. Please help this--- is getting so silly.

I tried to get a spare key for my import as well recently, went to my local Nissan dealership, Ancaster Croydon, was quoted £498 for a spare key :scare:

The key has to be shipped over from Japan as I think the signal for the lock and immobilzer is on a different feqency to the UK spec key.

That still did not justify the price though, as I found out a spare key for a UK car was for around £250 :bangin:

Good luck and let me know if you have any success

If you can get a key that is from a Z then they can re-programme it! they will say it might not work but it did with mine!

luckily i had a mate @ nissan & he had a spare z key so i didnt have to run the risk of buying a ebay key & it not being from a z!

Got my spare key cut for £108 at a dealer for my UK car. £250 is very over the top for a UK car. Not good for the import quote though :scare:

Just thought I'd mention that yesterday I tried to re-program my spare key fob and had a few problems.

I followed the process diagram from the guides section but still somehow managed to wipe my existing fob and immobilise my car! Luckily I was parked outside my house ...

Anyway after about an hour of messing around I managed to get back to where I started.

It turns out the spare key fob was faulty and was not able to register with the car.

I think I'm gonna leave it for a bit now before I try again ... LoL

Are you saying that you got a UK spec Key to work an imported Jap car ?

I would like to know this as well - I only have one key on my 2002 JDM - its such an early model im not even sure if its got an immobiliser (anyone else goto a 2002 jdm that can advise) - however I would like a spare key - but I'm not paying stupid money for it! Are the eBay keys anygood? How much would a reprogram cost if I had another key?

For an update of the spare key and predicament for imports---mine is 2003 ---and I would like a spare. Researching has brought me to this---Nissan dealer jn Cambridge wants £90 plus cost to re-programme the key. They cannot guarantee that as it is an import that it would be succesful. In this regard I contacted several if not many local/national key cutters/carkeyspecialists. 3 positive dealers (one in Peterborough-one in east London-one in Whittlesey Cambs) all said I needed the security code for the key to be re-programmed. Back to Marshals here in Cambridge; who with due deference to me as a customer gave me a telephone number of Nissan Uk customer service. Bless them. Anyway Nissan uk gave me the e mail address and tel. No. In Japan (0081335435523) (postoffice@nissan.co.jp)for Nissan customer care for me to contact---with my chassis number---to request said code number.

The dealers in Peterborough said that if I left the car for the day they could find this number on the immobiliser and proceed with that--rather than the number from Japan. Anyway with that info I have bought for £9.99 plus £2 post from e bay (ref item no. 290318777993) a key with the transponder inside. The guy I spoke to said he could code this key for £100. I am going to at least get this key cut to be able to be able to access the car (in the unlikely event of losing this now precious item) to get me at least half way there. In the meantime I will be arranging to go back to Whittlesey (nearer and easier for me ) for the guy to code a key for me (£65) once I get the security code back?? from Japan??

Please let me know how you get on with the eBay key and programming - and thanks for the post!
