moviepunk
Just to update everybody of my misfortune lol I took the 350 to Ancasters of Croydon. I phoned them up and the main guy in the service department said "come down and talk to john, he should be able to help" I thought great!! Maybe he'll do something there and then to help. I drove 45 minutes to meet him. He looked at my car for 1 second and said yep you'll need to book it in!!!! he could have told me that on the bloody phone! anyways i had to wait nearly 2 weeks before they could fit me in. I took it down yesterday hung around in croydon for the day then at 3.30pm he calls me up and says they won't have time to do it today cos all but 1 of the mechanics have gone home! so you better leave it overnight. (eveb tho when i retuned to the garage to get a courtesy car i counted 4 mechanics hanging around, including 2 working on MY car!! Cut a long story short i wasn't impressed with the way they ran their business. Picked my my car today and they said the exact same thing as the 1st place i took it too. It needs a new ABS unit. Costing £3,500, plus £200 to fit. But i have to order it but it won't be available till mid July! Guess more 350's are getting this problem! choptop
Sorry to hear this mate. Ok so two garages have confirmed the same problem. Maybe time to say good-bye to it unless you have some friends in the motor parts industry. Don't throw good money after bad. I know it's your pride and joy but £3700 is a lot of money. What about an independant ABS Specialist Garage? Can the part be re-conditioned? Just a thought.
marzman
Cant you purchase this part from a donor car? They're not vehicle specific are they? There are usually loads of written off zeds on eBay for breaking - can u email one of the sellers?
tmJak
Have you spoken to ZMANALEX in any depth? He seems to be indicating a solution and offering advice. He's a very knowledgable bloke The NATS code for your car can be retrieved from Nissan U.K and reprogrammed to another virgin ECU. It is also sometimes possible to reprogramme to a used UCU. ZMANALEX
Christian, Okay update and recommendation for you. Your car was manufactured in 05/05 even though it was registerred in 04/06 The part number 47851 CD800 is correct and would cost me £3000.00 +vat from Nissan. The App. Model Specification is 07/03 - 09/05 (build date, not 1st registration date) It is officially called a Module Assy-Anti Skid A preowned part will be available from a breakers for £100- £200 max Nissan fitting and reprogramming as you been quoted is £150.00. Sounds like a cost effective fix to me. Good luck and keep me in the loop. You have a further pm regarding this but though that I would post up here for the benefit of others who may find thenselves in a similar situation. Alex. R35LEE
Also forgot, if you know the original dealer that supplied the car they can supply you with the NATS code free of charge but if you try and obtain it directly or through another dealer it's £15.00 in most cases. SunZed
Just read this, I live near Wilsons, epsom and it is one of the worst places to buy a car from/get a car serviced.... They will take every penny they can. imo you should find a local guy to take a look or get the RAC out to tell you what it is??? Hope you find the part you need for cheaper than that!! I bought the used ABS module from a Hills Salvage and recycling for £180 including delivery. and got it fitted at Ancasters in Croydon and the mot done at the same time for £157 Total cost = £337 so a good saving of at least £3,000 I want to thank ZMANALEX for all his help and support.
