Muscat350 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi all, Just got an '04 350Z in Oman - dodgy road surfaces, crazy driving and digital speed cameras every 1km along the roads but hey... Apparently the roads here are surfaced differently from the UK, mainly because the city gets 3 days of rainfall per year. I never drove a 350 in the UK but the traction out here is a nightmare. On a clean (no sand or dust) road in nice 30c heat I can't pull away in 1st or even second at anything other than a snails pace. Full throttle is only for 40mph+ and even then i get some wriggling of the tail. Does anyone have any recommendations for tyre brands, pressures or other thoughts (apart from 'go easy on the throttle' which is least preferred option). Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi and to the forum. Tyre pressures should be 35 psi all round. What brand of tyres are on there at the moment? Quote
martinmac Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum. Are you driving with traction control on or off. Quote
Adam@Z1auto.com Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 also check the alignment specs - if too far out, traction will be miserable, no matter how good the tire Quote
Muscat350 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Traction control on. I heard 'off' is a quick route to heaven. The tyres are Goodyear F1s at the moment (not sure of specific F1 type). I used to have them on an Esprit SE and they were sticky but didn't last long. Quote
givememorepower Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Having the TC 'on' is surely for anyone who enjoys being called a big girls blouse.,(unless you have your 90 year old nana in the passenger seat). Route to heaven.........bug puff. You're RWD now. Check your tyre pressure and wear patterns firstly I'd reckon. Quote
