Digsy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 OK, a bit of an odd one this and I may be worrying for nothing but here goes... If you cease to have an insurance policy for a period of time (for any car) and then take out a new one, does your NCB transfer or is it lost? I'm talking a number of months rather than years. Quote
S1 HNK Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 as far as i know there is a period of grace which you can still retain your NCB and it must be a while so i dont think you have anything to worry about. Couldn't tell you the time period but i'm sure someone will know. Quote
waylander Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 You do not lose your NCB, just finish sending a letter for my father who was in the same situation as yourself, Direct Line stated they required in writing that he did not have private car insurance during that period. Quote
nixy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I think it depends on the insurer and for how long so I'd check if I were you. Quote

Generally, you can use it within 2 years. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 if your refering to the months that you were building up towards your next no claims, i thought they were lost, but if you have actual NCB years you can keep them. everytime i have cancelled a policy to start a new one due to change of car and the insurers not covering that vehicle i have had to loose the months for that year and start at 0 months with the new policy.
