Snow lances.. worth it for a DIY wash

Just making my Xmas list for father xmas and wondering if a snow lance attchment is a useful item for a home clean?

I use mine all the time now, it helps drag off a bit of the excess muck before washing proper begins.

 

If nothing else its worth it for the looks you get from your neighbours when it appears you are setting up for a foam party on your drive.

Either a gilmore or a pressure washer foam lance is good if used corrrectly.

I have a glimour and it works with limited success. As I see it the Zed has very thin paint to start with, so anything that can help remove or even loosen the dirt before washing has to be good for the paint.

AB lance (autobrite ) , def worth it esp during winter to get the majority of crud off without having to touch the car

this is with snow foam, you can buy super snow foam, i might try that next but i bought 25 litres of this for now

I just use a couple of squirts of my megs shampoo plus as recommended to me by my detailing buddy as he felt that every foam took some wax off. I think most would disagree but it saves me a few quid in snow foam! The foam it produces is magic too if I adjust it properly!

Does anyone know the specific model (fitting) that I would need to fit my Challenge Extreme (Argos) pressure washer? Not sure if its the same fitting as Karcher?

agree with stew contact autobrite they will advise you, you may need a lance and an adaptor ?

Definitely worth it, and I only have the crappy karcher one which is nowhere near as good as some of the others mentioned..

Unfortunately autobrite dont do a fitting suitable for my pressure washer Now I just gotta decide if its worth buying a whole new lance for

If its not money you cant afford to throw away on a whim, then I would wait a while. Although I use mine, I was fortunate enough to already have a karcher, so the foam lance was a bit of a gimmick, although it does work well.

 

If I had needed to buy a whole new pressure washer too, then I would have probably stuck withjust the two bucket system and spent the pressure washer money elsewhere.

i use a small bottle karcher on my karcher.

 

had an AB one, worked like a treat a few times, before the brass fitting got so tight.

had a replacement and it was worst.

was told to drill it, but paying so much for an item having to make it fit was very poor.

 

hence my use of the small karcher bottle. doesn't foam as much, but it does the job, for an initial stage, to clean off any top layer dirty
