Well where to start;

Cars include:

· My 350z

· S2000

· Mr2 Turbo

· Lotus S2 Elise

· Mr2 mk3

Car prep; Oil and filter change endless pads all round and uprated brake fluid.

All done at ESR.

Last Friday I travelled down to my mates in Leicester got up at four to get to Dover for 10am, stopped off in Brugge for lunch around mid day and then got the hotel in Nurburg for 9pm.

The roads to and around the Nordschleife are awesome some and possibly the best roads ive drove on with scenery to match. Stayed in the motorsport hotel the first night with a studio type room in a house out the back, very pleasant.

Right now the good stuff !!!

Got woke up by the nicest noise ever GT3’s absolutely screaming round the track as it was only 50m away from my room and could see the track.

Got to the ring and it was rammed cars everywhere both over flow car parks full.

Few pics from the car parks and entrance to the track;

After buying a ticket for eight laps (135euro) I was way too excited and couldn’t wait any longer.

So put my bike lid on and went for it.

Took it easy for about half a lap then built my pace up, the track has a lot of camber changes, blind crests and huge change in height throughout the lap.

2nd lap I started to pick the pace up and was loving every second of it.

When the Z got some heat in its tyres (Falken 452) I could feel the difference quite a bit. Brakes where fine never faded once under very heavy braking …very lol cheers Phil!

It was the first time I really pushed the Z and im really impressed by the handling and how smooth it was, happy to sit sliding around the track it never snapped back (not yet) …….

So the day goes on I went out with my mates had some interesting battle with an evo, Cayman S (however you spell it) the newish baby 911 not the 4x4 thing. Over took a few M3’s and 911’s all good. Until……………..

Me and my mate who has the Elise have always pushed each other from riding our bikes to driving our cars and I purposely didn’t go out with him on my first few laps.

Anyway we went out the Mk2 MR2 Turbo followed.

We both over took the MR2 very quickly I was in front and had my mate in the Elise behind me, know I wouldn’t be able to touch him round the bends so needed all the grunt the Z had for the longer sections.

After the first series of bends it straightens up over a slight crest and drops down, I was right on the limit coming out the corner and the back end started to slide (ohh f**k!) speed was about 60mph got it to a good 35-45 degrees and it snapped back on me just managed to save it totally pood my pants;

Anyway ¾ the way round I let the lotus in front as he had a slight edge on me.

For them who know 3 corners after the main spectator area (down the hill) theres another right hand bend, previous to this I was catching an old M3 who was sliding its arse end out every corner, he lets me past and I had big grin on my face I then for some reason I don’t know tried to over take an Alfa round the outside completed the move the Z screaming and the roads starts the run out came off the track onto the gravel and just missed the barrier (at this point my heart was pounding) looked at my mate and a chuckle and finished the lap.

The only other moment I had was a slide over 100mph that one did put the sh*ts up me.

Then it got worse the lad in the Elise was pushing very hard and the inevitable happed he put it into the barrier close the track for a good 20mins and cost him an arm and leg! To cut a long story short he managed to find a lotus specialist about 20miles away who fixed the suspension in a day and drove back on a later ferry.

Pics below enjoy!

Not nice, but could have been a lot worse.

It is still a new front and rear clam shell, so going to be pretty expensive..... :blush:

I'm sure it will be and I'm glad I don't have to pick up the bill, but I was more referring to the fact that he walked away from it without any injury

LoL now i can understand why my insurance company wouldn't cover me for going to the 'Ring.. :lol:

Just out of interest how much did the whole trip cost...Been meaning to go soon but the sensible side of brain keeps on reminding me I've also got a mortgage to pay off :headhurt:

The last time I went, I think I filled up once before I left (80 squid) then three times whilst over there (call it 300 euros / 240 squid) so that's about 300 notes in fuel give or take a few pepparamis from the shop...

Our accomodation was a very reasonable 40 quid a night for three nights.

Beer and food very cheap, between 50-100 euros a day.

Ringadingaling tickets, I did eight laps in one day - 140euros

So all in all, around 600-700 quid.

Worth every penny.

well;

taking out the cost of uk fuel to get you to dover area as i came from the Sunderland area,

ferry £80 incl two people

about 1 1/2 tanks to the ring @ 135 euro p/l

135euro for 8 laps (the more laps you buy the cheaper it makes it)

about a tank for 8 laps

hotel 45euro each night

food and drink arent that cheap i dont think; we did eat at a well know steak house in nurburg (think its on the pic link) where everyone goes steaks are 20euro if i rem.

but you could make it cheaper if you wanted but when your there i wouldnt try and save on cost for the experience.

i do have one lap left on my ticket which is valid till december any one who shouts up first can have it for free. :thumbs:

How many miles did you cover over the entire journey from Sunderland?

Im in Middlesbrough so miliege will be rutherly same if i went. Tyring to plan to go but it is hard trying to sort everyone to have the same time off.

Think im thinking of getting the ferry from Newcastle to the Netherlands and then a short drive from there.

and if you need any details on hotels / routes / roads just give me a shout.

I was there the same weekend you lot were there, saw you a few times, but we were pushed for time so couldn't come over and chat. We were in the rent-racecar white BMW 120. Your car sounded very nice on the ring.

I just checked through my pics, I was sure I took a pic of you on track giving it some, but can't find it :-/
