Fitting a plenum spacer? Can anyone do it?

Hey guy n gals,

Got a motordyne plenum spacer yesterday thinking I could easily fit it myself but after looking at the instructions I realised I have no chance. My question is could any old garage fit it or is a specialist required? I'm an idiot when it comes to the technical side of cars

I'm not exactly jonny mechanic and I changed over the plenum. I believe the spacer is easier to do.

Anyone can do it. You COULD do it yourself if you have the tools, patience and a little know how!

I managed my plenum myself and i dont boast to be mechanically minded, just need to take your time. There's a really good guide on here that I followed and after a few teething problems (aided by the guys on here) it works a treat. Prob been on 1000 miles so far without issue. Sure the guys on here will backup its not a hard job, just take your time.

Yep, did it myself and have helped a few others fit theirs. Carefull of trapping the rubber seal round the oil cap....

Also carefull of overtightening the bolts on the plenum, easy to pull the threads on aluminium....

Did you get the gasket that fits under the plenum too?

come on somebody tell me what one is , I keep hearing the word but have no idea

I **THINK** its a chamber, located between the throttle body and the runners of an intake manifold, used to distribute the intake charge evenly and to enhance engine breathing

(ony joking.. got that off the web)

But yeah, think thats what it is

hahahaha why buy one then hahahahaha

No.. i bought a plenum spacer.

Heard good things, best bang for buck performance mod etc. Might be wrong but i heard in some cases you can get an extra 10bhp and a bit of mid range torque.

Dont have a clue how it works though!

The plenum is the silver bit located above the 3.5 V^ bit under the bonnet. It distributes air to the cylinders.

A spacer sorts out air distrubution, basically the front cylinders don't recieve enough air. This sorts it out withgreat results. More torgue, more mid range power and a great noise!

Please correct any of the above. I'm not an automotive engineer or mechanic.

Don't know. I bought a kinetix V+ which is a complete unit. It's 200 or something maybe. I think the spacer is less than 200. As usual, Phil is the boy for supply.

It is a worthy mod. Well worth the cash for an engine noise.

Stew is correct in what he is saying, it gets air to all 6 cylinders. Without it, it get more air to 4 of the 6 leaving 2 cylinders "thirsty"...

Some come with a gasket that reduces the effects of heat.

Cost about £195, call Kev at Envy or Phil at ESR for further details...

To the OP needing the work done, drive to halfords, by a socket set and get on with the job!! It its honestly very easy!!

Edit.... Took too long to write the post and people had posted!!
