I need a Surf Board rack for my 350z.

It needs to be a real roof rack / ladder rack, I do not want a soft rack.

( Soft racks get sand caught in between them and your roof and should only be used on hire cars IMHO ).

Thule seem to offer one, but the images are so bad it's difficult to work out how it attaches. And this website don't answer questions.

If anyone has any info or good images that would be good.

Any 350z surfers out there?

I also found this info

Never tried to surf on a 350z, dont think the underneath is smooth enough... ;)

TBH mate, I think you may have a few issues on this one, cause of the way the windows shut...

It is something that has been discussed a few times... There are "sucker" ones available for ski's but they may not be strong enough to carry a board at speed...

Mmmmmm camper.......

sometimes thinking outloud just sounds wrong, see we could be thinking that you were being all petrol headed and dreaming of a split screen like most of us were, but who knows it could be the last time you watched supermarket sweep with dale winton, or the graham norton show ? who knows :)

joking aside, the prices for a good splitscreen is obscene !! cant believe just how sought after they are, it was only a few years back you could pick one up for chips, now its more like a right leg...

OK so the last time I went surfing I got my mate to bring his soft rack and we did a quicky test ( although I did not drive anywhere )

We put two boards on top of my Zed to test for size really.

I also tried to get the Circle One fish tail short board inside which was successful.

The boards were an NSP 8'1" MiniMal, and the Circle One short board which I think was about 6'9.

Oh and BTW - this is where Jeremy Clarkson drove to in the Mercedes in the first episode of the current series of Top Gear. ( When he ran out of land ) He managed to park on the edge of the cliff ( which is National Trust

). I drove a similar route back from Rhosilli to Manchester across the middle of Wales ( fantastic  )

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Here are some pics of my 350z roofrack.

I have been to Brittany from Manchester with two surf boards attached to my roof.

I also went to Croyde in Devon from London with two surf boards on the roof.

I also attach a string to the front towing eye, but suspect it's not needed ?

Look on Ebay for a VacuRack - it's great - each sucker can hold 200lbs of weight ( I think that means how much it can suck )

:yahoo: GENIUS, i have been stuck, unable to windsurf since buying a proper car

only problem though, windsurfers are genarally a little beefier than surf boards :( and i am scared to put big suckers on the roof. i wonder if split masts would fit in the car boot  and sails...

Hmm those windsurfer boards are massive, and heavy - I would not recommend it.

I also managed to get a kite surf board and all the associated equipment ( Kite - board - Pump - wetsuit - kitesurfer ) in my car with no problem - maybe you could learn how to kite surf instead - you get much more air and look like a hero!

:boat:

( I also bought an old wooden kayak off of eBay - 14 foot long ) I don't think that is going to go on my roof somehow - it fitted on my bug though.

I'm going to Croyde/Saunton/Woolacombe this weekend.

See you there - looks like it's going to be awful actually

Sydney looks ok with 4 grey stars

http://magicseaweed.com/Sydney-Bondi-Surf-Report/996/ ( buggers )

My mate just moved to Adelade and bought one of those Skyline things - I think that's the perfect solution actually.
