Paulzx Posted Friday at 12:35 Share Posted Friday at 12:35 My 2005 GT4 seems to have developed heavy steering without me really noticing anything unusual. It's not a daily driver, it's an occasional driver so maybe I didn't notice, but it's gone from the usual fairly light power steering to noticeably heavy steering. I've checked the power steering fluid reservoir and that doesn't seem to have moved, it's still on the middle marker so it's neither high nor low. I did wonder if the power steering pump may be the culprit, but my local garage has said they don't think so. They had a quick look at the car and suggested it's probably the steering rack that needs replacing. I'm not sure how you go about determining which part is the culprit? If it is the steering rack, is anyone selling good condition used ones? Cheers Paul

ZMANALEX Posted Friday at 19:40 Share Posted Friday at 19:40 I should have racks and pumps in stock for your GT4 Have you checked your tyre pressures?
Keith D Posted Friday at 20:52 Share Posted Friday at 20:52 If the steering still feels direct and not vague and all a bit meh, just heavy... after checking tyre pressures I'd tend to look at the pump personally Is the pump noisy or is the fluid a bit brown? Hmm.. well tyre pressures are good. Steering is direct, there's no wandering feeling, it's just heavy. Need to take a closer look at the fluid to determine if it looks brown. I have noticed that the steering wheel doesn't seem totally centred either in relation to the steering, i.e I have to hold the wheel ever so slightly off centre to remain in a straight line. @ZMANALEX how much is a replacement pump? I guess that would be a good place to start right?

Low mileage PAS pumps are in stock and good to go same/next day. PM Sent.
