Azurez33 Posted May 11, 2021 Posted May 11, 2021 So I saw someone who had done a similar mod on one of the Facebook groups so I thought why not give it a go! Quote
Azurez33 Posted May 11, 2021 Author Posted May 11, 2021 So far I’ve realised this material is an absolute bastard if you don’t treat it right, I started off by carefully drilling out the separate squares with a 7mm drill bit, being very careful and letting it make its own path otherwise it just splits and chips Quote
Azurez33 Posted May 11, 2021 Author Posted May 11, 2021 After the drilling I used an air circular saw to cut out a pre drawn out rectangle as you can see, and then an air die grinder to widen out the separate squares not too much though, following this I used a small flat file to meet the outer edges of the squares etc- next step will be the Perspex! Azurez33 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Continuation after a dreadfully long week, I cut the perspecs out to match each badly filed and cut hole so I could just about fit the pieces into the trim with a little bit of force Quote
Azurez33 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Obviously I used a very handy bit of kit to get the edges down much quicker than filing, good old bench grinder aka mr I’ll take your fingers please Quote
Azurez33 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Please excuse the F80 in pieces in the background, drilled out the holes so I could fit the Z badge in the middle, wasn’t happy the colour of the badge would go with my colours so I used a stanly knife to remove the chrome wrap back, now it’s ready for both pieces to be wrapped and I’ll report back once this step is done 🙂 Quote
Azurez33 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Just a little taster as I had my torch around aha Quote
Azurez33 Posted October 28, 2021 Author Posted October 28, 2021 Update: finished! got the guys at sign central to finish the wrap for me and also touch up the imperfections where the glue and material weren’t at all pleasing! had to wire 8 long ass thin bloomin wires into the control node but think the final product is worth it! 1 Quote
HEADPHONES Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Very high standard of finish I get nervy just removing any trim, let alone cutting intricate pieces out! 1 Quote
ballistic Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 when do they come on and off? Manual control or? 1 Quote

Thanks mate, honestly cutting out the squares was a nightmare as the material isn’t exactly playful! had to be careful not to chip it, this was just a mock up, trying to get hold of another panel to do a more finessed attempt! the guys who wrapped it are also insanely talented! haha I bet chap, tbh I’ve learnt at work that you can be careful and still break the clips so why waste time, box of poppers isn’t too expensive! 5 hours ago, ballistic said: when do they come on and off? Manual control or? they come on as soon as ignition is off, I control them through my phone, there’s a touch button on the module, discreetly hidden under the ashtray for “rozza response” 😂 Quote
ballistic Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 makes sense. Nice for shows and stuff. 1 Quote
