Djan Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi everyone, My beautiful 370z is dormant and i need to bounce some thoughts and glean some advice on how to overcome if you've a mind to help :) Went out to her on Wednesday and got in using the keyless entry button as normal, before i even tried to start her there was an amber key light showing on the dash. Batteries in the keys are new (Does this with both keys) I get nothing more, she is clearly searching for a key and not seeing it via the ignition system. I googled and an American thread was suggesting the small fuse box on the bulkhead, I took that with a pinch of salt as the same fella was prattling on about clutch pedal switches/sensors. (It's not those) I've settled on ignition switch, local dealer (Who services my car) suggested switch, lock and module at a crisp £1000 plus fitting an programming. Any clever advice or do i bite the bullet and spend my exhaust on an ignition switch? All help much appreciated. Djan :0) Quote
nissanman312 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 (edited) Sounds like the steering lock has failed Edited January 18, 2019 by nissanman312 Quote

Ebized Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Have you read the link? Our advice is avoid Nissan dealers as you could find yourself in for a nasty bill that can be avoided. Even replacement locks have been know to fail, so the best action is to disable it once and for all, as you will see how in the link. I see you are in Essex. So not far from a ZED/GTR specialist who comes highly recommended: https://kaizermotor.co.uk/ Quote
Djan Posted January 18, 2019 Author Posted January 18, 2019 No, i admit i glanced at it and made an assumption, I'm in Leigh on Sea and will get in touch with Kaizer as recommended, Appreciate the help Quote
ZMANALEX Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 The first thing to do is to give the steering lock a well-controlled hit with a hammer as I have released a few this way. If this is successful then pull the fuse immediately. Job done, Good luck. Quote
Djan Posted January 20, 2019 Author Posted January 20, 2019 Hey guys, just a little feedback and a huge thank you. Smacked it three times with a club hammer (All i had) ignition came on, put it to ACC (Auxiliary mode?) pulled the fuse for the steering lock (After stripping scuttle panel) been driving her around all day with no problems at all. Brilliant advise, saved me a fortune! I owe you a beer at the next meet 1 Quote
