Convertible lid clear plastic protection thing

I want to remove this because the elements have dicoloured the glue underneath and looks horrid. Do nissan ect do a replacement and will it scuff the paint work if I don't replace it? Cheers.

The protector is easily removed by gently using a heat gun.

Without the strip, the paintwork will eventually become marked.
