Andymac183 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Got a bit too carried away with the hot foam brush and snapped off my stubby - I'm wondering if there's anything I can do with the remainder as it looks like there isn't enough exposed thread to screw anything into anymore - can anyone tell me if the picture below looks like I'll need a new mount? Or can I remove the remainder somehow? Quote
brillomaster Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) it looks like you might just be able to get some pliers on the end of that and unscrew whats still left in the mount. some penetrating oil an hour or two before will help. failing that, when I snapped my cheap ebay aerial, I very carefully drilled out what was left in there, and left enough thread intact to screw in a new, better Honda RDX aerial. buy cheap buy twice and all that! on the plus side, you can't make it any worse than it is already (unless your drill bit slips and you accidentally drill a hole in your wing) Edited February 17, 2016 by brillomaster 2 Quote
Andymac183 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 But which bit am I unscrewing? The knurled part, or the darker coloured metal cylinder INSIDE the knurled bit? The latter is waaaay in there and pliers would be impossible.... Quote
ZeppoJeff Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Screw off the knurled part and the threaded part should follow Quote
Stutopia Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Maybe save the brush for the wheels and get mitt (or even a sponge ) for the paintwork? Quote
Andymac183 Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Thanks for noticing...! Previous owner's handiwork, GOD knows what he was trying to achieve...! Quote
